This post was sponsored by Always Eat After 7PM. The journey recaps and review of the book are based my own thoughts, experience and opinions.

Well folks, I did it. 4 weeks on Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion and I loved all that I've learned and gained by being asked to take this journey.

Sustained energy, good sleep for a whole month (woo woo!), less bloat and a flatter tummy and leaner arms, I am a happy gal.

If you're popping in and seeing this as a first post, check out the weekly updates, as well as the introduction to what this journey entails. It's based on Joel's method of eating after 7PM, a diet scientifically proven to improve so many facets of our health.

Post One - Introduction
Post Two - First Update & Interview
Post Three - Let's Talk Goals

The author inquired as to how those that took this 30 day challenge would continue to follow this plan in their own life.

For me that looks like keeping his healthy, delicious recipes on our weekly meal rotation, no longer depriving myself and being conscious of his phases and how they work with our bodies. I'm excited to share this information with not only all of you, but my personal nutrition clients as well.

The most challenging times to curb hunger are just before bed and in the morning. By following the Always Eat After 7PM program, you have the most willpower to stay on the diet because you are eating during the hours when you are most hungry. This also puts you into both intermittent fasting increasing testosterone and your metabolism, while putting you into ketosis.

I'd also love to note the authors promotion of using supplements to round out a healthy diet. As a nutritionist and holistic health promoter, when needed, supplements can exponentially help our bodies. Boosting immunity, helping our bodies processes and organs function optimally and promoting more energy, balance and more. He states,
While adding key dietary supplements to your daily meal planning is not necessary to experience success on Always Eat After 7 pm, doing so may help you see faster and longer-lasting results.
Based on surprising science, Always Eat After 7 PM debunks popular diet myths and offers an easy-to-follow diet that accelerates fat-burning and allows you to indulge in your most intense food cravings: Eating the majority of your calories at night.

Who wouldn't get on board to try this? To be honest, I was skeptical at first too. We grow up hearing things, about what's right/wrong. Good/Bad. But if you've known me for a while, you know by nature I'm a researcher. I will dig, I will try things. And for me this worked beautifully. I didn't gain weight as I always feared I would, in fact, I'm healthier.

And before I leave you today, enjoy some of Joel's go-to snacks and recipes!

Always Eat After 7PM - Let's Talk Goal Setting

Let's chat goals.

If you're just joining us, I am on week three of implementing Joel Marion's diet strategy of eating after 7PM. I am following along with his book Always Eat After 7PM and it's been amazing in a few ways for me personally, and we will dive into that soon, but first, let's chat goals.

Week One's introduction post can be read here, and Week Two's post, with an interview with Joel himself, can be seen here.

One of the biggest pieces of advice I can offer you when starting on this plan, or any new diet or health journey is to set goals. Clear cut, smart goals that can keep you on track and help you see wins.

When I set out to try Joel's methods, I was hoping to gain more even, sustained energy and even out my blood sugar as I tend to feel weak and crash when I'm hungry. My three week update is below...
styled photo of my personal copy of the book

I'm happy to report, that like in week two, I'm still having more energy upon waking, which is making our breakfast routine and preschool hours more upbeat - and that's been fun!

I'm not crashing in the evening hours (yay!) and am still sleeping deeply. Even as a nutritionist who enjoys cooking most meals, I still LOVE the recipe ideas in the book. I can meal plan right out of the book using the food lists included.

AND MY TUMMY IS FLATTER. I didn't set out for this to be a weight loss for me personally, but because my sugars are more even and the food I'm making from the book is back to my super clean eating days, it's just naturally happening.

The book is beautifully laid out and easily digestible. It's easy to read, easy to follow, with thorough science, a expert voice and broken down areas when you need to quickly reference back.

The Always Eat After 7 PM plan consists of: The 14-day Acceleration Phase to kick-start the program and see rapid results, The Main Phase where you’ll learn exactly which foods to eat when in order to achieve your weight-loss goals, The Lifestyle Phase to keep the weight off for good

I've highlighted a few of my favorite recipes from the book below, and urge you to pick up a copy and try not only these mouth-watering meals, but try this method to see how it can improve your health overall as well!

Joel Marion’s Always Eat After 7PM program makes dieting easy and eliminates 90% of reasons for resistance.

During each week of the Main Phase, you combat falling leptin levels through the addition of Super Carbs at lunch and dinner—and then conclude each week with a leptin-boosting cheat day for exercisers and a cheat meal for non-exercisers . Losing weight is about to become even more pleasant.

Chicken Hash with Kale and Butternut Squash

This one is so good and reminds me of a butternut squash recipe my husband would make for me when I was pregnant with Grey. With the additional of the kale, we now have it weekly for a good dose of folate.

Chicken Spaghetti Skillet

Comfort. Food. At. It's. Finest. Except it uses butternut squash to create the noodles which adds a dimensional flavor out of this world. This is our Friday late night go to!

Honey Garlic Pork Loin

Just make this. My favorite so far.

Always Eat After 7PM - First Update & Author Interview

This post was sponsored by Always Eat After 7PM. The journey recaps and review of the book are based my own thoughts, experience and opinions.

It's been a week since I dove into Always Eat After 7PM and started implementing the methods of the diet into my daily routine and I can say I'm seeing pleasant improvements already. It incorporates healthy foods I already love and makes it easy for me to meal prep following along to their meal outlines and recipes. I'm experiencing deeper sleep and more even blood sugar are at the top of my report, which I'm loving!

If you're just joining, you can read my first post - Always Eat After 7PM: Challenge Accepted - and see why I chose to take this journey and give this book and Joels method a try!

As I continue on, I wanted to share an exclusive interview with the author, Joel Marion, asking some of the top questions in regard to this book, the science behind it and what makes it different.

Let's dive in to the Q&A with Mr. Marion himself...

Interview with Joel Marion, Author of Always Eat After 7PM

Picture
Bestselling author, Joel Marion, is a fitness expert and nutritionist debunking the myths underlying traditional dieting and offers a simple, highly effective weight loss program.

Mandi Pimental: How long did it take for you to develop this method and way of eating?

Joel Marion: It actually took several years of researching for me to discover the real science of eating late night. After a few years of tweaking and refining, I finally came up with a rapid fat loss solution that overcomes all the pitfalls of traditional diets.

Mandi Pimental: What was the most surprising discover you made when researching scientific data?

Joel Marion: That almost everything my college education and certifications taught me was NOT grounded in published scientific research.

Mandi Pimental: You’re a six-time best selling author, compared to your other books, what makes this one different?

Joel Marion: Although many of the concepts are similar, the biggest difference is that you don't have to deprive yourself of your favorite foods. You don't have to deal with the burden of eating every few hours. And you don't have to skip the carbs at dinnertime or avoid eating before bed.

Something I really enjoyed as a nutritionist, and as someone partaking in this, was Marion's explanation of carbs vs. Super Carbs. He states, "The solution is to eat slow-digesting, unrefined Super Carbs in the evening. They cause insulin levels to rise gradually instead of dramatically and blood sugar levels to remain steady. Insulin is an antagonist to cortisol, and consequently cortisol levels do not skyrocket."

He goes on to state, "Glucose-based starches, like rice and potatoes, are great sources of anaerobic fuel for exercisers; they can help increase ATP (energy) production, enhance recovery, build muscle, increase metabolic rate, and optimize hormones."

It's truly educational and fascinating and is just the tip of the deep iceberg this book offers to come alongside you and support in not only getting you on a diet that will help your bodies processes in so many ways, but will educate you on the WHAT and WHY of what you're putting in your body. And that's always gold to me.
