Let's chat goals.
If you're just joining us, I am on week three of implementing Joel Marion's diet strategy of eating after 7PM. I am following along with his book Always Eat After 7PM and it's been amazing in a few ways for me personally, and we will dive into that soon, but first, let's chat goals. Week One's introduction post can be read here, and Week Two's post, with an interview with Joel himself, can be seen here. One of the biggest pieces of advice I can offer you when starting on this plan, or any new diet or health journey is to set goals. Clear cut, smart goals that can keep you on track and help you see wins. When I set out to try Joel's methods, I was hoping to gain more even, sustained energy and even out my blood sugar as I tend to feel weak and crash when I'm hungry. My three week update is below...

I'm happy to report, that like in week two, I'm still having more energy upon waking, which is making our breakfast routine and preschool hours more upbeat - and that's been fun! I'm not crashing in the evening hours (yay!) and am still sleeping deeply. Even as a nutritionist who enjoys cooking most meals, I still LOVE the recipe ideas in the book. I can meal plan right out of the book using the food lists included. AND MY TUMMY IS FLATTER. I didn't set out for this to be a weight loss for me personally, but because my sugars are more even and the food I'm making from the book is back to my super clean eating days, it's just naturally happening. The book is beautifully laid out and easily digestible. It's easy to read, easy to follow, with thorough science, a expert voice and broken down areas when you need to quickly reference back. The Always Eat After 7 PM plan consists of: The 14-day Acceleration Phase to kick-start the program and see rapid results, The Main Phase where you’ll learn exactly which foods to eat when in order to achieve your weight-loss goals, The Lifestyle Phase to keep the weight off for good I've highlighted a few of my favorite recipes from the book below, and urge you to pick up a copy and try not only these mouth-watering meals, but try this method to see how it can improve your health overall as well! Joel Marion’s Always Eat After 7PM program makes dieting easy and eliminates 90% of reasons for resistance. During each week of the Main Phase, you combat falling leptin levels through the addition of Super Carbs at lunch and dinner—and then conclude each week with a leptin-boosting cheat day for exercisers and a cheat meal for non-exercisers . Losing weight is about to become even more pleasant. Chicken Hash with Kale and Butternut Squash
This one is so good and reminds me of a butternut squash recipe my husband would make for me when I was pregnant with Grey. With the additional of the kale, we now have it weekly for a good dose of folate.
Chicken Spaghetti Skillet
Comfort. Food. At. It's. Finest. Except it uses butternut squash to create the noodles which adds a dimensional flavor out of this world. This is our Friday late night go to!
Honey Garlic Pork Loin
Just make this. My favorite so far.
