This post was sponsored by Always Eat After 7PM. The journey recaps and review of the book are based my own thoughts, experience and opinions.
It's been a week since I dove into Always Eat After 7PM and started implementing the methods of the diet into my daily routine and I can say I'm seeing pleasant improvements already. It incorporates healthy foods I already love and makes it easy for me to meal prep following along to their meal outlines and recipes. I'm experiencing deeper sleep and more even blood sugar are at the top of my report, which I'm loving!
If you're just joining, you can read my first post - Always Eat After 7PM: Challenge Accepted - and see why I chose to take this journey and give this book and Joels method a try! As I continue on, I wanted to share an exclusive interview with the author, Joel Marion, asking some of the top questions in regard to this book, the science behind it and what makes it different. Let's dive in to the Q&A with Mr. Marion himself...
Bestselling author, Joel Marion, is a fitness expert and nutritionist debunking the myths underlying traditional dieting and offers a simple, highly effective weight loss program.
Mandi Pimental: How long did it take for you to develop this method and way of eating? Joel Marion: It actually took several years of researching for me to discover the real science of eating late night. After a few years of tweaking and refining, I finally came up with a rapid fat loss solution that overcomes all the pitfalls of traditional diets. Mandi Pimental: What was the most surprising discover you made when researching scientific data? Joel Marion: That almost everything my college education and certifications taught me was NOT grounded in published scientific research. Mandi Pimental: You’re a six-time best selling author, compared to your other books, what makes this one different? Joel Marion: Although many of the concepts are similar, the biggest difference is that you don't have to deprive yourself of your favorite foods. You don't have to deal with the burden of eating every few hours. And you don't have to skip the carbs at dinnertime or avoid eating before bed. Something I really enjoyed as a nutritionist, and as someone partaking in this, was Marion's explanation of carbs vs. Super Carbs. He states, "The solution is to eat slow-digesting, unrefined Super Carbs in the evening. They cause insulin levels to rise gradually instead of dramatically and blood sugar levels to remain steady. Insulin is an antagonist to cortisol, and consequently cortisol levels do not skyrocket." He goes on to state, "Glucose-based starches, like rice and potatoes, are great sources of anaerobic fuel for exercisers; they can help increase ATP (energy) production, enhance recovery, build muscle, increase metabolic rate, and optimize hormones." It's truly educational and fascinating and is just the tip of the deep iceberg this book offers to come alongside you and support in not only getting you on a diet that will help your bodies processes in so many ways, but will educate you on the WHAT and WHY of what you're putting in your body. And that's always gold to me. Do you have questions regarding this book? More information can be found here, so that you can snag your own copy.
