Bram Hoover is a multi-talented actor and screenwriter who, is his career thus far, has acted in both film and television and is the writer behind this seasons hot new football film, 23 Blast.  23 Blast follows the true life story and hardships of teen football star Travis Freeman, and Hoover lets us in on why he chose to bring this story to life.  We also spoke to Hoover about fitness, fashion and what it is that makes a guy feel sexy.

You wrote, and are currently starring in the film 23 Blast.  That is quite an achievement!  Can you tell us a little bit about Jerry Baker, the character you play?
Jerry is a kid from a small town who knows how to have a good time, doesn’t take crap from anyone, and is always there for his friends.  Especially his best friend Travis Freeman.  In the film, Travis goes from a normal, healthy teenager, to losing his eyesight overnight.  Jerry is suddenly lost without his right-hand man.  As time passes, Jerry is one of the voices of reason that helps Travis find his way.  And in doing so, finds himself.

What inspired you to take this incredible story of high school student Travis Freeman and adapt it to film?
I grew up in Corbin, Kentucky where the story takes place.  And I played football with the real Travis Freeman.  So, I got to experience Travis' incredible story first hand.

The film focuses on the challenges of Freeman going blind at a pivotal time in his life.  In your personal life what is your most valued sense, and why?
It’s really tough to choose just one, but I would have to say my sense of taste.  I love eating all kinds of foods, sweets too.  I could not imagine not being able to taste all the wonderful foods on this earth.

The film revolves around football, are you into sports yourself?
Yes, I am into all sports, but football is my favorite by far.  I played football since I was 8 years old, all the way through high school, and a little in college.  I'm actually in my High School Hall of Fame (if that means anything).  Nowadays, I just sit around on my couch and watch all I can on TV.

You have been working in film and television for quite a few years now.  Have you always aspired to write your own projects?  Or was it something you were inspired to do after you started your work in Hollywood?
I think I've always been a storyteller, even as a kid.  That's what we do in film and television, or any art for that matter.  But, after acting for a few years, I realized that there was more fulfillment, and sometimes more control being a writer/director.  Solely as an actor, you're only able to control and contribute to the story through your character.  But, as a writer, and/or director, you have your hands in the whole story.  All of the characters, not just one.  That was more enticing to me.

Prior to 23 Blast, what has been your most memorable acting role?
I would say my role on "Dirt" on FX a few years ago.  I had a pretty memorable line that actually made it on "Talk Soup" that week.  My friends and family back home still talk about it when I see them.

You are in extremely good shape.  Can you share your fitness routine?
I have gotten really into yoga.  I love how it makes me feel afterward.  I feel energized and happy.  I try to swim or bike a few times a week as well too.  But my favorite form of exercise is playing basketball.

Your Twitter profile alludes to the fact you enjoy donuts.  Who doesn’t love a donut?  What is your food philosophy? Strict dieter, everything in moderation, or more of an “I do what I want” mentality?
My food philosophy is I pretty much eat whatever I want.  For now anyway.  Who knows how my metabolism will be down the road, but for now, it's still pretty good.  And I have a huge sweet tooth, and yes, donuts and ice cream are two of my weaknesses.

Let’s talk fashion.  We have seen you in an array of styles, from sporty and casual to suits on the red carpet.  What is your typical everyday style?
My typical everyday style is to try to be as comfortable as possible, with a cool pair of sneakers on.  If I could, I would wear sneakers, gym shorts, and a t-shirt every day.  But, I also love to get dressed up in a suit every now and then.  When you're casual a majority of the time, it's nice to get all suited and booted.  Makes me feel sexy, confident.

Do you have a favorite go-to designer for special events and appearances?
My favorite go-to designer right now is anything Hugo Boss.  I love their stuff and it really fits me well too.
